Negotiation Strategies for Daily Life
DESCRIPTION
Many people absolutely dread negotiating. Perhaps they reflect on a major negotiation from the past that was particularly challenging. It may have involved intense negotiations over salary, the purchase of a home or automobile, the details of a job offer, or the terms of a business agreement. Admittedly, high-stakes negotiations—though essential—can be very stressful, emotionally draining, and time-consuming. However, when handled skillfully, they can create major wins for both parties. Additionally, each of us engages in small-scale, daily negotiations such as exchanges with colleagues, clients, vendors, family, and friends. These too have a major influence on our lives and often shape the nature of both personal and working relationships.
This highly interactive session examines negotiation strategies for daily life and therefore covers a wide range of scenarios. Participants can expect to gain a heightened understanding of the various aspects of negotiation, learn to negotiate without fear, build lasting relationships with fellow negotiators, and uncover hidden value throughout the process. Whether it’s negotiating with a friend or spouse about where to go for dinner or the terms of a multi-year contract with a vendor, the principles in this session are highly impactful. Through real-world examples and practical exercises, each attendee will learn to negotiate collaboratively and with confidence.
